Welcome — whether you’re eyeing your first PRS match or plotting your next podium push, this friendly guide gets you battle-ready with practical tips, a simple gear checklist, and ways ParaBellum can fast-track your progress. Think of this as your warm, tactical nudge: training, community, and one great match at a time.
What is PRS (and why it matters)
The Precision Rifle Series (PRS) is a structured, skill-forward competition circuit that tests precision, speed, and fieldcraft over varied terrain and distances. Matches combine problem-solving, positional shooting, wind reading, and range estimation. For competitors, PRS is more than points — it’s a way to measure progress, make friends, and sharpen capabilities in real match conditions.
Why you should try a PRS match
Real-world skills: Stage-based scenarios build gear management, shooting fundamentals, and decision-making under time pressure.
Community: Collegial atmosphere; veterans welcome beginners. Networking with manufactures, coaches, and fellow shooters is standard.
Progress tracking: Clear scoring metrics let you see tangible improvement.
Fun & adrenaline: Every stage is different — plan, execute, adapt, celebrate.
What a typical PRS match looks like
Stages: 6–12 stages per match. Each stage has a unique scenario (positional, barricade, natural terrain).
Distances: 100–1,200+ yards depending on match level and terrain.
Targets: Reactive steel, cardboard, or precision scoring targets; hit zones vary by stage.
Scoring: Typically scored by points/time or raw points; penalties applied for misses or safety infractions.
Time: Expect a full day for local single-day matches, multi-day formats for larger events.
